Bailey served as the Communications Director for Jessica Katzenmeyer’s groundbreaking 2020 campaign for the Wisconsin State Assembly. Although she did not win the election, the campaign exceeded expectations and elevated Katzenmeyer’s political visibility, gaining grassroots support from hundreds of Wisconsinites across the political spectrum. Bailey’s efforts, from gaining hundreds of Twitter followers during the Democratic National Convention to writing a viral op-ed, were a key element to the rise of one of the biggest transgender voices in Wisconsin politics.

Katzenmeyer, at the time of her campaign, was the second ever transgender person to run for Wisconsin State Assembly. As LGBTQ+ issues continue to dominate local and national conversations, it was important for Katzenmeyer to make her experience as an out trans woman known to the constituents of her district. Bailey provided writing support to the effort.

The death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a major loss for American progressives, and people flocked to social media with deep sorrow and grave concern for the consequences of her passing during the Trump administration. Bailey’s heartfelt, optimistic statement of persistence on Katzenmeyer’s behalf broke through the crowd, gaining more than 1,700 impressions on Facebook.

Bailey’s other accomplishments on the campaign include earning 136.8K Twitter impressions from Day 1 of the Democratic National Convention (August 17) through the end of the election (November 3) with no budget, and increasing the number of Facebook likes by over 160% from February to November.
